Architectural Feasibility Study

INCEPTIONWhere to start?

So  you have a building project in mind and you're not sure where to start? The fact your looking at this website suggests that you have already made the first step on what can be a complicated journey. Just speaking to an Architect can help to unlock ideas and motivate you to develop your project. At MSCA, we make every effort to sit down with our clients at the earliest stage possible, not only to discuss the ideas they've had, but what they ultimately want to achieve from their project and normally produce feasibility sketches.

Planning Approvals

DESIGN DevelopmentBut I just need planning...

"I don't need an expensive Architect, I know what I want, I just need planning". It is true that some clients do know exactly what they want and how they want to achieve, which is why we offer a plan drawing service, however, those first ideas can often be developed to achieve a design solution that is responsive to the environment of the plot. For example, passive design techniques can be incorporated in most cases to improve light within a space, whilst also giving an increased level of comfort, but most importantly - "value for money"

Building Regulations Approval

Production informationBuilding Regulations

Building Regulations are minimum standards for design, building and alterations to virtually every building in the UK. Approval is required for most projects, and although it is often handled by the local authorty, it is a different thing entirely to Planning Permission. The information required for this element of the design involves developing the planning package of information, and adding detailed information such as specification's, construction detailing & heating / lighting information. More importantly though, it is this package of information that will be used by the main building contractor when carrying out works on site.

Contract Management

Tendering & Contract Management

This is the exciting phase of the project for any developer, the stage at which you choose your builder, and enter into a contract to build. MSCA can help you decide which contractors to approach with your tender package, assist in the tendering process, advise on the type of building contract to use, and administer the building contract on your behalf. At the end of the day, building projects are not cheap, so it is important that, as a client, you minimise any risk in whatever way possible, ensuring you get the best value for money from your finished building.

J & K Anderson

We employed Mark Starford in a private capacity as an Architect to oversee our self build project.  Mark was very professional, efficient and understanding during the course of this self build.  Regular visits and audits were made throughout the development.   We were provided with current,  up-to-date information relevant to each stage of the building at any given time which we found invaluable due to ever changing building regulations and construction methods.  Mark was genuinely interested in the finer details and finishings of each property taking into account each client’s different ideas and tastes.
